Paul Henschel - Senior Pastor
Paul was born and raised in Racine, WI. He attended church with his family while growing up, but it wasn’t until he went to summer camp at age 11 that God opened his heart to see and receive the reality of the gospel. After becoming a follower of Christ, Paul plugged into his church’s youth group. Through that ministry God not only grew Paul in his relationship with Him but also grew in Paul a desire to minister to others.
Feeling both the call and burden to go into pastoral ministry, Paul enrolled at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL. It was there that he would not only earn a Bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Studies but would also meet his wonderful wife, Tobi. After graduating Moody, Paul also went on to earn a Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL.
While attending both of those schools Paul became a part of the ministry of Forest Preserve Bible Church in Chicago, first as an intern then as an associate pastor, being mentored by Pastor Steve Rzany. A year after graduating seminary, Paul and Tobi moved to Marinette, WI where he served as the solo pastor of Grace Community Church. He served in that position for six years before becoming part of the ministry here at OCC in August of 2015. Paul is an ordained minister with the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA).
Paul’s passion is to see and be a part of God’s transformation of people’s lives through the good news of Jesus Christ, whether for the first time or in a growing relationship with Him. He and his wife, Tobi, have been married since July of 2007 and have three boys: Caleb, David, and Luke. When Paul’s not busy with ministry, he enjoys relaxing at home with his family or going on various adventures with them. Being a native Wisconsinite, he also cheers on the Packers, Brewers, and Bucks.
