We can’t wait to meet you!

Welcome to Osco Community Church (OCC)! We know you may have a lot of questions when visiting a new church. Our goal is for you to feel welcome, comfortable, and at home when you join us at Osco Community Church. Below you’ll find more information about us and what you can expect on your first visit.

About Us

OCC is a part of the Evangelical Free Churches of America. We have around 100 people join us for worship on an average Sunday. Our congregation is made up of people from many different backgrounds, encompassing all ages, united by our desire to know Christ, to make Him known, and to share His love. We want to extend a warm invitation for you to join us as we seek God together and as we grow in our relationship with Him and each other. We believe “church” is so much more than just a building or a tradition – it is God’s people, whom He made and loves! We are a group of ordinary people bound together by the extraordinary grace of God through Jesus Christ.

Parking

When you arrive at our church, our main parking lot is located on the south side of our buildings. If you have physical limitations or are an expecting mother, we encourage you to park in the spaces closer to the building along the road (Main Street) in front of the church.

What to Wear

You can expect a warm, friendly, and relaxed atmosphere. Feel free to dress as casual as you feel comfortable. On a typical Sunday, you’ll find people wearing anything from casual jeans and t-shirts to polos or dresses/skirts to suits. We encourage you to come as you are.

Children

We are a church that loves children and encourages all parents to raise their children to worship God as not just part of “the church of tomorrow” but part of the church of today! We currently offer a staffed nursery which parents are free to utilize with their little ones as needed. We also provide a staffed class for children ages 2 to 4 during the entire worship service. We encourage those older than 4 to join us for the worship service (yes, we know kids aren’t always perfectly quiet, and that’s ok!). In our foyer, we also provide children’s bulletins and crayons to help engage the kids while they worship with us.

Sunday Worship Service

Our Sunday morning worship service begins at 9:00 AM and typically finishes around 10:15 AM. Our morning services are designed to be a place where people can come to know God more and engage in worship of Him in community with others. During the service, our worship team will lead us in a number of songs, singing about how great our God is. Our worship leaders seek to balance contemporary music with some of the great hymns of our faith. We believe that prayer is important and as such we will have times of prayer in each service. Since God’s Word (the Bible) is central to everything we do, you will also hear a challenging and practical message taught from God’s Word every week. Our sermons at OCC are predominately expository, which means we focus each week on a particular text from the Bible and attempt to understand its meaning and apply it to our hearts and lives. We encourage you to bring your Bible with you. If you do not have one, feel free to use (or take) one of ours. Every week we are reminded through singing, prayer, and the Bible about our need for God’s grace and about how abundantly God has provided that grace for us in Jesus Christ!

Sunday School

After the morning worship service, many in our church enjoy hanging around and talking. This is a great time to get to know others in the church. Coffee, hot chocolate, and often a treat are available each week downstairs in the fellowship hall and outside the church kitchen. In addition, many at OCC stay for our Sunday school hour. It is another great opportunity to learn from God’s Word together, pray for one another, and get to know others. We typically have a selection of 2-4 different Sunday school class options and topics for adults to plug into. We also offer Sunday school classes for kids and teens in the following age breakdowns (age 2 – K, 1st & 2nd Grade, 3rd-5th Grade, Jr. & Sr. High).
